bunq is a Dutch bank that offers current accounts and credit card products for individuals and business customers. The fintech was founded by Ali Niknam (Linkedin) back in 2012. bunq offers various digital current account models for private and business customers

The account offers are subject to a fee, but in return they offer a wide range of services and included cash cards as well as a IBAN.

The bank bunq wants to offer a versatile product with its current account. The new account is created online in just a few minutes and can be used with up to three free cards.

Since bunq works with Wise (PR42 Profile), 39 currencies are supported. You can also use the card in a foreign currency, in which case the amount will be converted into euros. The bunq bank does not charge a foreign currency fee.

With a European banking license, bunq can operate not only in Germany or Austria but actually throughout Europe, for example, in the Netherlands, Belgium, or even Spain.

On rating portals on the Internet, many customers report bad experiences with the provider. On trustpilot.com, for example, there is an increasing amount of criticism of bunq. For example, technical problems with newer versions of the banking app are rated negatively. But there are also reports of unjustified account closures and non-payment of credit balances.

Therefore we classify bunq in our “Orange Compliance” list.
