Gatehouse Bank
Gatehouse Bank is a Sharia-compliant bank offering savings products and financing for UK commercial and residential real estate.
Founded in 2008, the bank operates under Shariah principles and offers savings products and financing for UK commercial and residential real estate, as well as sourcing and advising on UK real estate investments with a focus on the rental sector.
One of the cornerstones of the bank’s business is residential real estate financing, from simple home investments to corporate financing and property portfolio upgrades. The bank also offers real estate financing for expatriates, but under certain conditions. The properties must be located in England and Wales and they must be investment properties. Gatehouse must also approve the valuer.
Gatehouse’s corporate finance team arranges commercial property finance for clients including asset managers, developers and investors.

The U.K. Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) fined Gatehouse Bank £1.5 million in the third quarter of 2022 over its lax money laundering controls. Gatehouse failed to adequately screen its customers from countries with a higher risk of money laundering and terrorist financing. Gatehouse also failed to implement adequate controls when some of its customers were classified as politically exposed persons (PEPs).
